I thought I’d share a bit about my hopes and dreams for this space. I spent a whole $13 on a domain name so I’d like to put it to good use, ya know?
When writing out my goals for 2017, I came across this scripture:
“How lovely is your dwelling place, LORD Almighty!” Psalm 84:1
Without context this scripture probably doesn’t speak to you. It definitely didn’t speak to me. But, then a few days later I “stumbled” (lol God totally lead me right to it) on 1 Corinthians 3:16 and was humbled beyond belief:
“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?”
Me. My body, my mind, my heart are the dwelling place of the Lord God Almighty. He has made a home within me and has called it Lovely. So, my New Year’s Resolution for 2017 is pursue the loveliness that God calls me to. I want my life, my home, and the way I carry myself to all be a direct representation of Christ’s beauty living within me and I want this blog to hold me accountable to that pursuit!
I also want this space to be a friend to me and a friend to you. Real talk: I’m not often a great friend to myself—I’m critical and degrading and not my biggest fan (can you relate?). I want this to be a space full of advice and inspirational words for both of us! I hope you always feel beautiful and smart and strong and full of life when you come here.
I don’t know if anyone will read a single thing that I post (although I TOTALLY hope that you do). I don’t pretend to be an expert on anything I write about and I don’t plan to reinvent the “blogging wheel.” But, I do promise to be real and stay true to myself and my desires and my interests and my convictions. I’m starting this blog for me. I like to write, I love an excuse to take a good photo, visit a trendy restaurant, go on a special date, host a fun party, try a new lip color, or read a great book. I also need a creative outlet or I’ll burst. Most importantly, I really hope that my pursuit of a lovelier life inspires you to want the same for yours.
I want lovely to live inside of me and inside of you. I want Lovely to Live Here. If you haven’t read Lovely Lives Here Part I, then check it out! Thank you for stopping by– I hope we become great friends!
